    Son of Robert C. Colby; established organ supply firm in Johnson City, Tennessee; associated with Kimber-Allen firm, c.1984–1986; active in 1989.

    Begun as an adjunct to an organ builder in 1974 as Kimber-Allen, Inc, the firm was established as a separate business in 1979 in Johnson City, Tennessee. The name was changed to R.A. Colby in 1984.

    The firm is now an organbuilder as well as continuing to be a supplier. They are frequently contracted to build new consoles. In addition to organs and parts, the firm builds custom church furniture and provides ecclesiastical artwork in carved wood.
