The OHS Pipe Organ Database

BuilderID 2234

Builder Identification

New York City, 1822-27

Additional Notes

  • Note from the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1991). Edited for the revised OHS Online Database website, 2017. —

William Geib was the brother of Adam Geib;* he was in partnership with Adam 1822-27 in New York City. Their firm sold and perhaps manufactured chamber organs.

*If this is the Adam Geib that was twin brother of John Geib Jr, Ogasapian does not mention him in the entry on either John Sr or Jr. One possibility is that there were two Adam Geibs in the area at the time. First cousins often shared the same name in the 1800s as they would be named after a common grandfather. –Ed.

At present we have no photographs that should be displayed on this page, though we may well have photographs under a related entry with a different form of the name. We would very much like to have photographs of all builders, nameplates, and other appropriate images in our database. If you can assist us with this project, please send a message to photos@organsociety.org. Our photo editor will be happy to assist you.
