    Born 22 April 1762 in Kreuzberg, Thuringia, Germany; father of Ernst J. Bachman; apprenticed with David Tannenberg of Lititz, Pennsylvania, 17 Feb. 1793; married Tannenberg's daughter in 1793.

    Johann Philip Bachman was born 22 April 1762 in Kreuzberg, Thuringia, Germany. He was the father of Ernst J. Bachman. He apprenticed with David Tannenberg> of Lititz, Pennsylvania, 17 Feb. 1793; and married Tannenberg's daughter in 1793. After Tanneberg's passing, Bachman had his own firm from 1800 until 1821, thereafter business declined and he shifted to piano and cabinetwork. He died 15 November 1837. His son, Ernest, also trained in the Tanneberg shop and worked with his father, but left in 1827 to teach School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
