    Born 1807 in Salem, Massachusetts; brother of Elias Hook, father of Frederick Clapp Hook; apprentice with William Goodrich of Boston, Massachusetts; built first organ while operating music store with brother in Salem, Massachusetts, 1827; established organ firm of E. & G. G. Hook with brother in Boston, Massachusetts, 1831, voicer and tonal director; died 15 Sep. 1880 in Boston, succeeded by Francis Hastings.
