Edgar Atkinson Boadway was born January 14, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts; he attended the University of Vermont, 1955-1959. He was with Andover Organ Co., Methuen, Massachusetts, 1962-1966; with Berkshire Organ Co. of West Springfield, Massachusetts; and associated with the Organ Clearing House of Harrisville, New Harris. He was a teacher of English in public and private schools; an author, historian, organist, and the editor and publisher of the Boston Organ Club Newsletter from July, 1965. He was in organ business full-time by 1985; active in 1990.
Edgar Boadway Jr. died at home in Claremont, New Hampshire, on June 29, 2016. He was a founding member of the Organ Historical Society and the first secretary for the board of directors. He wrote the first set of bylaws for the organization. He was instrumental in establishing the Archives, and was the first person to index all of the old tracker organs in a given state. He was elevated to Honorary Membership in 2013.
