Orlando, Florida, c. 1980s

Additional Notes

  • From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). —

Clergyman in Orlando, Florida; purchased organ supplies, c. 1980s.

  • Note from the Organ Database Builders editor Stephen Hall, June 27, 2017. —

This is likely Rev. Father Robert Brown, long-time pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in east Orlando. St. Joseph's acquired its first pipe organ while Father Brown was there, and then enlarged it to accommodate the expanded building during his pastorate. Father Brown was a musician and particularly fond of the organ. The enlarged organ used the original Ontko & Young organ as its nucleus, but the completed organ was more than three times that size and contained vintage pipes from several builders.

Some of our entries are names that might never appear on a nameplate or nameboard.
On the other hand, there are both individuals and firms who are responsible for conserving historic organs through location, or preserving the usefulness of pipe organs through rebuilding or making modifications to existing instruments. In these cases, we are proud to acknowledge their contributions to the ongoing artistic tradition of the pipe organ in America through individual entries in our online database.
