Notes

  • Status Note: There 1994 (OHS PC Database. 2004-10-30)
  • Restored by Austin Organs Inc. 1988-89. (OHS PC Database. 2004-10-30)
  • Updated through online information from John W. Tremblay. -- This organ is strongly reminiscent of the 1912 Kotzschmar Memorial Organ (Opus #323) at the Portland City Hall Auditorium (now the Merrill Auditorium) prior to its enlargement to five manuals and well over a hundred stops, including at least one prepared-for division. The console at the Bushnell Memorial Hall retains its Art Deco styling and a traditional Austin electromechanical hold-and-set piston action. The console was equipped with solid-state interface which makes it movable to any point on the stage, with three points for plugging in the coaxial cable which replaced the large original cable. The organ is in chambers, with part of the unenclosed Great on display in front of the appropriate chamber opening, "caged" to prevent damage by stage hands moving lights, etc. The organ renovation, in the late 80s or early 90s, was written up in The American Organist.
