Notes

  • Status Note: There 1989 (OHS PC Database. 2004-10-30)
  • Historic Organs Recital series Jul & Aug 1989. [or 16st, 18rk?] (OHS PC Database. 2004-10-30)
  • Updated through on-line information from Sharon Lees. -- President of Moses B. Taylor Memorial Church Board of Trustees. This is the church where the organ is located. The organ continues in wonderful (unaltered) condition. It was inspected early in this century. New felts replaced the old, worn ones on both manuals and the pedal board. Other than being electrified in 1918, though the pump-action still works and was used about 8 years ago for a wedding when the power failed shortly before the service). We are very proud and VERY protective of our wonderful little organ -- selective in who cares for it. The organ requires virtually NO maintenance other than one tuning a year. It is in an unheated church so the leather and wood is practically as good as the day it was installed. (Database Manager. 2009-04-14)
  • Updated through online information from Sharon Lees. -- The organ continues to delight summer congregations and accompanying many brides as they make their way up the aisle. The Trustees are committed to keeping the organ in tip-top shape through appropriate conservation only. The organ remains miraculously the same after 127 years, except for replacements of worn parts (of which there are few)and just as Mr. Roosevelt built it in 1886. It is a testament to exceptional workmanship and design. We consider our church very fortunate to have it. (Database Manager. 2013-09-03)
